Terms & Conditions of Use

1. Disclaimer & Use at Own Risk

 

Use of the sauna and cold water facilities is undertaken entirely at your own risk. If you are in any doubt about your ability to safely use the sauna or participate in hot or cold exposure, you should consult your GP or a qualified medical professional prior to use.

 

 

2. Medical Conditions & Health Guidance

 

The following list is not exhaustive. If any of the below apply, you are advised to seek medical advice before using the sauna:

  • Pregnancy

  • History of heart attack or stroke

  • Cardiovascular conditions or problems (including hypertension or hypotension, congestive heart failure, impaired coronary circulation)

  • Use of prescription or over-the-counter medication (including diuretics, beta-blockers, barbiturates, antihistamines, or any medication that may affect heat regulation or blood pressure)

  • Epilepsy

  • Asthma or other breathing conditions

  • High or low blood pressure

  • Arterial disease (including severe arterial disease)

  • Joint or muscle injury (particularly within 48 hours of injury, or where swelling is present)

  • Surgical implants (including metal pins, rods, artificial joints, pacemakers, or defibrillators)

  • Insensitivity to heat

 

If you have had a heart attack within the last 6 months, or have any of the above conditions, medical advice should be sought prior to sauna use.

 

Use of the sauna must be discontinued immediately if you feel unwell, dizzy, faint, or experience any discomfort.

 

 

3. Sauna Use & Safety

 

The sauna is wood-fired and operates at high temperatures.

 

  • Do not touch the stove, stove door, flue chimney, sauna rocks, or surrounding fire guards

  • Only as instructed to pour water onto the stones

  • When pouring water on the rocks, start from the point furthest away from you to prevent scalding

 

 

4. Cold Water Exposure (Plunge Pools / Cold Showers)

 

  • Use of plunge pools and cold showers is undertaken entirely at your own risk.

  • Participants must ensure they feel physically capable and confident before entering.

  • Cold water immersion should be brief. We recommend limiting time in the water to no more than 3 minutes at a time.

  • You are responsible for monitoring your own condition at all times and must exit immediately if you feel unwell, dizzy, or uncomfortable.

  • Please note that cold water immersion is not covered under our insurance.

 

 

5. Children & Young Persons

 

  • Children aged 16 and under are permitted to use the sauna only when accompanied by an adult family member or guardian at all times

  • Supervision must be on a strict 1:1 ratio

  • No under 16s are permitted to use plunge pools or cold showers

  • A parent, guardian, or adult family member must accept full responsibility for any minor in their care and will be required to sign a waiver prior to use of the facilities.

6. Behaviour & Conduct

 

  • Alcohol and smoking are not permitted in or around the sauna

  • We reserve the right to refuse admission to intoxicated persons

  • We reserve the right to refuse entry for any reason that may be deemed a health and safety risk

  • Refunds will not be offered to anyone refused admission

 

 

7. Sauna Etiquette & Hygiene

 

All users must adhere to sauna etiquette at all times:

 

  • Enter and exit the sauna with care

  • Remove shoes before entering

  • Sit on a towel at all times – no towel, no sauna

  • Stay in the sauna for no longer than 20 minutes at a time (we recommend 5–15 minute sessions)

  • Shower before using cold plunges

  • Keep conversations quiet and respectful of others

  • Do not use your own essential oils in the sauna

  • Any hanging jewellery should be removed before entering the sauna to prevent burning

  • Only swimwear may be worn in the sauna (no footwear)

  • Nudity is not permitted

 

 

8. Group Bookings

 

If you are making a booking on behalf of a group, it is your responsibility to make all users aware of the Terms and Conditions and to practice safe sauna use, as well as making others aware of what to bring and other useful information.

 

 

9. Right to Refuse Service

 

AMBERWAVE SAUNA reserves the right to refuse admission or remove any individual at its discretion where this is considered necessary for health, safety, or operational reasons.

 

 

10. Acknowledgement & Acceptance

 

By using AMBERWAVE SAUNA facilities, you confirm that:

  • You have read and understood these Terms & Conditions

  • You accept full responsibility for your own health and safety

  • You agree to use all facilities at your own risk.

  • If you bring a child during a Family Session, you accept full responsibility for any named minor during use of the sauna and associated facilities.
